Building a Strong Foundation

The Mount Vernon Presbyterian Foundation is a growing endowment established to support and expand the ministry of Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church. The Foundation board, which is elected by the congregation, manages the funds. Together with the session of the church, it approves the expenditure of annual gains on selected projects. The MVP Foundation board members pledge to carry out their legal responsibility and fiduciary duty to ensure that the donor’s wishes for each gift are fulfilled and that funds are used for no other purpose than those which donors have designated.

Gifts to the Foundation during your lifetime enable Mount Vernon Presbyterian Church to respond to current needs and to plan for the future, insuring excellent programs for generations to come. Planned giving allows you to make a statement of support for MVPC that will become a lasting legacy.

Gifts enable ministry above and beyond what is possible through the church’s annual budget and can be directed to one of four different fund groups as follows:
     Mission & Outreach – supporting local and global missions
     Buildings & Equipment – used for major repairs and purchase of equipment
     Christian Education – for special educational and spiritual enrichment programs
     Worship – enhancing congregational worship

You can also make a more general contribution to Undesignated Funds, which will be used for needs not covered by one of the above funds.

An Act of Faith

Contributions to the Foundation are most commonly made by including the Foundation in your will. A will can be written to accomplish a variety of needs, such as benefiting family and friends. It can also fulfill your desire to support a particular mission or program through a charitable bequest. Your will reflects what is important to you in life. Naming the church in your will attests to your gratitude to God and can continue your generosity for years to come. Through a bequest to the MVP Foundation you can touch countless lives with the love and grace of God.

The Foundation also welcomes outright gifts in the form of cash, common stocks, bonds, property, or other assets.

The Foundation can provide guidance in the preparation of a will or with the process of making outright gifts. You may be surprised to learn of some creative ways you can use your accumulated resources to provide for yourself, your heirs, and your church.
